Den 3 Dinosaur Tracks. December 1998News
Congratulations to Andrew and Leonardo who were awarded their Bobcat badges at the last pack meeting. And it looks like the boys who participated in the buffalo blood ceremony all survived - those necklaces do have special powers of protection.
Thanks to Utkarsh, Scott, Andrew, Jason, Leonardo, Michael, and their families for doing their best to collect all those canned goods for the Scouting for Food drive. Our pack turned in the largest number of cans (2,394 items) of all the cub scout packs in the Mission Peak District. Way to go guys! Just think of all the needy people who you've helped this holiday season!
Thanks to the Den 3 parents who contributed sweet desserts to help make the cake raffle a great success. We raised $74.00 for the pack without beanie babies! Aileen Auyeung and Wendy Gutierrez did a great job selling tickets and hosting the punch service.
Den leaders took a count of the walnut items. Our den guessed 7 of the 20 items and were just edged out of the tootsie roll award by Den 8 who guessed 8 items.
After our last stomp'n session of aluminum cans we turned in 6.8 pounds of cans and raised $6.53 for the pack. Keep on collecting and brining in those cans! Also try to get extended family, friends, and work friends to contribute to our cause.
Preparations for December's Pack Meeting on 12/11/98.
Have your boy bring in a tree ornament to decorate the pack's Xmas tree before the start of the pack meeting. After the meeting, the boys can take back their ornament.
Please bring in at least one canned good to donate to the Tri-city shelter. One free raffle ticket will be given to you for each canned good you donate. Also for the shelter, the pack is asking for a donation of a new toy (not wrapped) from each den member. The price of the toy should be kept under $5.00. This is a goodwill
Parents, at each pack meeting a Parent Participation sign-in sheet will be put out for you to sign-in. It is important to sign yourselves in. Each den who achieves 80% parent participation will get a monthly Parent Participation Award for their den flag.
The pack committee is urging all parents and den leaders to better control and quiet their kids at pack meetings. Pete and Skip need to have the boys' undivided attention.
Expect a visit from Santa!
